VÅRSOPPA “Spring Soup”

Date:  Saturday, March 27

Time:  6 PM

Place: Division of Services for the Blind  250 N 1950 W     Salt Lake City

This is one of our favorite activities all year and has become a tradition!!  Come and enjoy soups (pea soup & nettle soup, just to mention a couple), limpa bread and knäckebröd with cheese, etc. Semlor is the traditional dessert.  We will have the tables beautifully decorated with påskris (birch twigs with feathers).  It will be colorful and spring like.

Cost:
Members of SHS
$4/adult, $2/child (12 and under)
Non-Members of SHS:
$6/adult, $4/child
If you can’t stay and enjoy the food and good company, you’re still welcome to come and shop.  Our “Swedish Store” will be open from 5:30-6 PM and then again from 7 PM-closing. We will have the following items available:   Kalles kaviar $2.75 påskmust $1.50 (traditional Easter drink) Swedish candy Marabou chocolate (several varities) Cheese Havarti, (Västerbotten-, präst-, herrgård-, hushållsost (Farmer’s cheese), Havarti & getost (Goat’s cheese) Lingon berries – Felix Pärondricka (pear flavored drinks) Knäckebröd (crisp bread, several varieties) Nyponsoppa (rosehip soup) Blåbärssoppa (blueberry soup) Vaniljsås (vanilla sauce – great with apple pie and much more) Svartvinbärssaft (blackcurrant concentrate) & more! We will also have the following baked items for sale (pre-ordering is recommended): Limpa bread Semlor $2.50/each (sweet roll pasty with almond paste and whipped cream) Småländsk ostkaka (Swedish style cheesecake) Vaniljbullar $2.50/each (custard-filled sweet rolls) Wienerbröd $2.25/each (a custard & almond filled Danish)   Place your order no later than Friday, March 26, by calling Vivianne at 801-266-2693 or Mona at 801-969-1685. The Swedish Store

The Swedish Heritage Society will have “the Swedish Store” open Saturday, February 27, 1-3 PM at Meadowbrook Condos Clubhouse, 1 Follow the markers to the clubhouse.

This is a great time to stock up on the following items: Kalles kaviar $3.00 Jul-påskmust $1.25 (traditional Easter drink) Swedish candy (banana flavored candy & more) Marabou chocolate (several varieties) Cheese Havarti, (Västerbotten-, präst-, herrgård-, Greve-, hushållsost (Farmer’s cheese), & getost (Goat’s cheese) Lingon berries – Felix Pärondricka (several varieties pear flavored drinks along   with other flavors) Anna’s cardamon cookies Långfil starts (thick, a little stringy, if stirred) Knäckebröd (crisp bread, several varieties) O’Boy (chocolate drink mix) Ballerina & Singolla cookies Droste Cocoa Box (Dutch – which we used to by in Sweden) Fruktsoppa (fruit soup mix) Nyponsoppa (rosehip soup mix) Gula ärter (Swedish yellow peas) Finax Muesli (breakfast cereal) Vaniljsås (vanilla sauce – great with apple pie, Swedish cheese cake, and much more) Danskt smör (Danish butter – creamy like Swedish butter) Kokosfett (German coconut fat – for candy making) Odense Almond Paste Niveakräm (lotion) Ekelunds linens…table runners, towels, etc. We sell these items very close to our purchase price. Time: 5:45 PM Långdans (Auditorium) 6 PM Program (Auditorium)  

Admission:

MEMBERS: (You need your membership card to get the member price). Adult: $3 Child: $2 (4-15)  

NON-MEMBERS:  (If you join SHS, you get the member price).    Adult: $5 Child: $4 (4-15)

Come hungry and enjoy dinner catered by “A Viking’s Feast”.

MEMBERS: Adult: $8.50 – Children: $6 (10 and under)

NON-MEMBERS: Adult: $9.50 – Children: $7 (10 and under Dinner will be served in the Cafeteria.

See Lucia and her Starboys and get in the spirit of Christmas! Enjoy the wonderful entertainment.  (Arrive early; the doors will be closed during the Lucia procession.)  Dance your socks off.  Visit with Santa and shop till you drop.  There will also be face painting and other fun activities for the children in the gym. Come Prepared to buy your Christmas gifts! The “Swedish Store” will be filled with many NEW items. We are stocked with Swedish Cheeses (Farmer’s cheese, Prästost,  Herrgårdsost, Västerbotten, Havarti, etc.), Kalles Kaviar ($3), Knäckebröd- several varieties, Saffran (Saffron), saft (drink concentrate), Marabou choklad (several different varieties), Swedish candy (skumbananer, Zoo), limpa bread and other baked items and MUCH more! The “Swedish Store” is a fundraiser for the Swedish Heritage Society.  We appreciate your support of the in helping us further Swedish culture and traditions in Utah, like our annual Lucia event.

The Swedish store will be open after the Program.
