NEW DATE for midsummer, Saturday June 24th

Yes, midsummer is almost here! This is such a fun Swedish tradition that we would like to continue celebrating in Salt Lake.

3:00 PM Bring fresh flowers/foliage (birch) to
help decorate the May Pole
3:30 PM The store opens
4:00 PM Pole raising – Dancing
5:00 PM Games for the children / Dancing/Music
6:00 PM Dinner catered by “Copper Grill”. Dinners will have to be prepaid this year or you will not be able to eat. We will send a link soon so you can pay for the dinner online ahead of the event.

It takes many volunteers to make a successful event for all. We are a volunteer organization and are dependent on helpers at the events.

We strongly encourage all former and future participants of the Lucia procession to help out, and their families.

We have to move quickly on getting the volunteers lined up. I’m currently in Africa working extremely long hours and will need ALL committed volunteers to step forward ASAP to make this event happen.

We still need a chair person for the following areas: (you will be trained, if needed)

1. Dinner tickets
2. Children’s activities
3. Drinks

We need volunteers at the following times:

Set-up in the morning 7:30-11 am (10 helpers, young children do not count)
Set-up store (9am-3pm)
Decorating the Maypole 3-4pm
Face-painting 4-6 pm
Fishpond 4:30-6 pm
Selling drinks
3:00-4:30 pm
4:30-6 pm
Dinner tickets (Will Call – to pick up tickets already paid for online)
2 people 3-4:30 pm
2 people 4:30-6 pm
Store “helpers” – 2 per shift
3-4:30 pm
4:30-6 pm
6-7:30 pm
Store Cashiers
3:30-4:45 pm
4:45-6:00 pm
6:00-7:30 pm
Take Down in the evening from 7:30-9:30 pm (10 helpers)

If we don’t have all volunteers lined up one week before the event, we will have to cancel the event. If you would like to have this tradition ongoing, we need your help!!

Are you planning on having dinner at the Midsummer event?

If so, you better act fast as you have to PREPAY for your dinner this year. We will have a very limited amount of dinners for sale at $20/plate at the event. Please click on the following link SWEDISH HERITAGE SOCIETY to place your order. Pricing and other information will be shown once you click on the link, as well.

You can also pay by check. The check has to be postmarked no later than Monday, the 19th as we need to receive the check by Tuesday. Please send the check to:

Dinner will be served at 6 pm. The deadline for ordering is 8 am on Wednesday the 21st as the caterer will need to know how many dinners to purchase ingredients for.

Midsummer June 25 starting at 3 PM

Yes, midsummer is almost here! Traditionally we celebrate the same weekend they celebrate Midsummer in Sweden and it will be here in just 3 short weeks!!  This is such a fun Swedish tradition that we would like to keep celebrating.  We’re planning on starting the festivities at 3 PM.

This activity requires a lot of volunteers to make a successful event for all. We are a volunteer organization and are dependent on helpers at the events. We strongly encourage all former and future participants of the Lucia procession to help out, and their families. We need a chair person for the following areas: (you will be trained)
1. Program (Dancing, singers, etc)
2. Children’s activities
3. Dinner tickets
4. Drinks
5. Decorating the Maypole

We need volunteers at the following times:
Set-up in the morning
7:30-10:30 am (10 people with good, strong backs who can put up tents, tables and chairs)

Face-painting
4-6 pm

Fishpond
4:30-6 pm

Selling drinks
3:00-4:30 pm
4:30-6 pm

Selling dinner tickets (this is a service we do for the caterer to make the dinner line move faster.)

2-4 people 4:30-6 pm
Store “helpers” – 2 per shift

Valborg 2016

Welcome spring and sing traditional songs around the bonfire!

Come hungry, as we will sell Swedish style hotdogs, mashed potatoes, warm & cold drinks, and Swedish pastries, like princesstårta, Budapest, semlor, wienerbröd, vaniljbullar…

Make sure to bring family and friends. We will have a Swedish store set up at this activity. If you are able to help out for 30 minutes during the event, please reply to this email.

We will sell hot dogs, mashed potatoes, and Swedish desserts at great prices.
We will have a small store at this event.

(Turn north on 1950 W off of North Temple)

This is one of our favorite activities all year! Come and enjoy our soup buffet (pea soup and nettle soup, just to mention a couple), limpa bread & knäckebröd with cheese, etc. Semlor is the traditional dessert. The tables will be beautifully decorated with påskris (traditional Easter decoration – birch twigs w/ feathers).

If you can’t stay and enjoy the food and good company, you’re still welcome to come and shop. Our “Swedish Store” will be open from 5:30-6 PM and again
from 7PM – closing. We will sell Easter eggs, like the one above, in different sizes.
Tickets are $5/adult and $4/child 3-12.
Members of Swedish Heritage receive a discounted price.

Come hungry and enjoy dinner catered by “A Viking’s Feast”.
MEMBERS: Adult: $9 – Children: $7 (10 and under)

See Lucia and her Starboys and get in the spirit of Christmas! Enjoy the wonderful entertainment. (Arrive early; the doors will be closed during the Lucia procession.) Dance your socks off. Visit with Santa and shop till you drop. There will also be face painting and other fun activities for the children in the gym.
Come Prepared to buy your Christmas gifts and food! The “Swedish Store” will be filled with many NEW items. The “Swedish Store” is a fundraiser for the Swedish Heritage Society. We appreciate your support in helping us further Swedish culture and traditions in Utah, like our annual Lucia event. The Swedish store will be open after the Program.
We are stocked with Swedish Cheeses (Farmer’s cheese, Prästost, Havarti, etc.), Kalles Kaviar ($2.50), Knäckebröd- several varieties, Saffran (Saffron), saft (drink concentrate (limited quantity of pear flavor), Marabou choklad (several different varieties), Swedish candy (skumbananer, Zoo), limpa bread and other baked items and MUCH more!
The “Swedish Store” is a fundraiser for the Swedish Heritage Society. We appreciate your support of the in helping us further Swedish culture and traditions in Utah, like our annual Lucia event. The Swedish store will be set up in the gym.
